ALRESFORD Town had a mixed week with a cup win and two league defeats.

The Magpies started their week with a 6-0 victory at home to Alderbury in the third round of the Southampton Senior Cup last Tuesday night.

Chris Mason broke the deadlock for the home side in the 28th minute, and Mason then scored his and Alresford’s second goal of the evening on 34 minutes.

Louis Russell’s goal in the 40th minute gave the Magpies a 3-0 lead at half time.

An own goal on 72 minutes put the home side four goals up, and Richard Luffman made it 5-0 to Alresford in the 82nd minute.

Tom Ashton completed the scoring for the night when he made it 6-0 to the Magpies on 87 minutes.

Alresford then fell to a 2-0 defeat at Brockenhurst on Saturday afternoon in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.

Jude Nwachukwu broke the deadlock for the home side in the 13th minute, and Nwachukwu scored his and Brockenhurst’s second goal of the afternoon on 52 minutes to make it 2-0.

Alresford then slipped to a second successive defeat when they lost 2-1 at Team Solent on Monday night in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.

After a goalless first half Luke Mitchell broke the deadlock for the home side in the 50th minute, and Mitchell then scored his and Team Solent’s second goal of the evening on 66 minutes.

Mason pulled a goal back for the Magpies in the 80th minute to make it 2-1, but Alresford were unable to find an equaliser.
