PETERSFIELD Town Football Club have revealed who their new first team manager will be for the 2017-18 season.
Jim Macey has been unveiled as the Rams’ new boss, and there will be a familiar look to some of his coaching team.
His assistant manager will be Shane Brayson and head coach is Tim Farmer – the duo guided Petersfield’s reserve team to a league and cup winning double in the Wyvern League in 2016-17.
Mark Summerhill has been named as coach in the new first team set up, after leaving his role at Hampshire Premier League side Liphook United.
Jim comes to Petersfield with plenty of experience in the Wessex League, where the Rams will be returning to following their relegation from the Southern League.
He spent four years in charge at Whitchurch United and guided the club to promotion from Wessex Division 1 in 2013 and a mid-table finish the following season in the Premier Division. He also took the club on their record FA Cup run.
He stepped up to be Amesbury Town manager last season after being part of the coaching staff who took them up from Division 1 in the previous campaign.
Jim said: “I am very happy to be taking over at Petersfield. We all know last season was not great but it’s my job now to make sure we can turn things around.
“It’s definitely a bit of a rebuilding job but we feel with what players I hope to bring to the club and players that are happy to stay, plus a very good reserves side with some talented young players, we can change things for the better.
“Shane Brayson will be stepping up from the reserves to work as my assistant, along with Tim Farmer who will also be involved in the coaching side of things. I am looking forward to working with them both.
“Off the field the club are working very hard to get things ready for the new season and we have set a two year project in place and everyone is looking forward to the new season.”
Petersfield chairman Graeme Moir is delighted to welcome Jim to the club for what he feels will be an important season for the Rams.
Moir said: “It’s crucial that we change the mood music surrounding the club after what happened last season and we believe Jim is the man to help us do that.
“We are under no illusions here at Petersfield – readjusting to life in the Wessex League will be tough and there is a lot of hard work ahead of us both on and off the field if we are going to be able to make the progress we all wish to see the club making.
“Jim brings with him plenty of experience of the Wessex League which will be crucial for the campaign ahead. And he has surrounded himself with coaching staff who know the club inside out.
“He has his own group of players he can add to last season’s first team squad and also a talented squad of young players to pick from in last season’s double winning reserve team.
“With our new development squad system for youth football also about to be launched, we believe we are putting in place the foundations needed to stabilise the club so that it can move forward and start building momentum again.
“I urge everyone at the club to welcome Jim to Petersfield and give him and his new coaching team your full support and backing for the season ahead.”
