PETERSFIELD Town booked their place in the next round of The Buildbase FA Vase on Saturday by doing something they haven’t managed to do for almost 18 months.

The Rams kept their first clean sheet in 71 matches in the 1-0 win against Corsham Town.

It was the first time Petersfield had prevented the opposition from scoring in a competitive game since their 2-0 win over Hanwell Town at Love Lane on March 30, 2016.

That barren run on the goals conceded front has coincided with the club’s fall from the Southern League and their slow start to life back in the Wessex League.

But Saturday’s win was a continuation of the Rams’ steady return to good form in recent weeks, something coach Tim Farmer praised after the Corsham result.

He said:?“Our work continues with a very young side but one which is learning all the time.

“A quest to become harder to beat remains our first priority in the weeks ahead and it has been important for the players to see the gameplan we have put in place working.”

Petersfield travel to Team Solent in the Wessex Premier Division on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

Progress in the FA?Vase marked a busy weekend for Petersfield, who also launched their new youth development sides.

The set up includes five new youth teams for the new season at under-17s, under-15s, under-14s and under-12s level for boys, with a new under-15s girls side as well.
