Potters Bar Town 3 Petersfield Town 1: PETERSFIELD Town had plenty to be optimistic about following a spirited performance at Potters Bar on Saturday, where they played a large part of the game with only ten men.

But things didn’t go their way again – with an early goal conceded, a missed penalty followed by a sending off, and conceding five minutes after drawing level in the game.

Potters Bar took the lead after four minutes when Billy Baird got clear down the right hand side before pulling the ball back to Jack Lyons who stroked his shot into the back of the net.

The Rams were given a penalty on 28 minutes after a period of sustained pressure. Dan Simmonds took the spot kick but keeper Ben Goode dived full stretch to his right to beat away the ball.

To make matters worse for Petersfield the home side broke quickly and Alfie Whittingham made what the referee felt was his second bookable offence of the afternoon and he received his marching orders.

The Rams equalised five minutes into the second half when Stuart Green scored with a header guided home from a free kick.

But just as they got themselves back into the game Petersfield conceded again after a ball from the right hand side was not cleared properly and Ryan Forde hit a low shot past Tom Boyle and into the net.

The home side made sure of all three points in injury time when a low ball into the box found substitute Michael Murray at the far post and he rolled his shot home.
