PETERSFIELD Town won 4-2 at Cowes Sports in the second round of the Hampshire Senior Cup last Tuesday night to book a trip to National League side Eastleigh in the next round.
The Rams capitalised on sloppy play from Morgan Perrin in the 13th minute, and Harry Bedford took the ball on the edge of the area and fired it into the bottom corner.
The home side grew into the game and equalised six minutes later when Darren Williams made Jordan Geddes pay for a slip and clipped in a cross for Jimmy Wykes to smartly tap in.
Cowes continued to push, and Scott McFarlane curled an effort inches over the bar.
Minutes later Matt Petts was called into action with a strong one-on-one block.
Rams boss Mark Summerhill was then forced to bring off the injured Sean Burton and Matt Low, replacing them with Oliver Purser and Jordan Neal.
The visitors regained the lead through a Bedford free kick. On the right-hand side of the area his free kick curled into the top right-hand corner as the keeper could only push the ball into the net.
Two minutes later the visitors hit a third. Neal nodded a long ball down to Marvin Orepo who needed only one touch before scoring to give the Rams a 3-1 lead at half time.
Wykes bagged his second after the break in bizarre fashion when his corner curled straight in, catching Petts out at his near post to make it 3-2.
Petts then blocked an effort from Wykes low to his right as Cowes continued to push.
Neal secured the win when he latched on to a loose ball from a free kick and his beautiful effort curled past Ed Hatt.
