PETERSFIELD Town manager Ian Saunders can’t wait to see his side go into battle against Havant and Waterlooville at Love Lane.
The Rams take on the National League South side at Love Lane tonight (Wednesday) in the Hampshire Senior Cup.
Both sides will be looking to book their place in the quarter finals of the county cup and victory in this derby clash will make the winners one of the favourites to win the competition due to the number of higher ranked sides already knocked out.
The Rams and the Hawks will be glad for the break from their current poor runs of form in the league, with both sides having lost their last three games in a row.
With both sides expected to field their full first teams for the game and with both enjoying better fortunes in the cup competitions this season, an entertaining match is in prospect.
“To be able to play a competitive game against Havant and Waterlooville at Love Lane is a huge honour for our club,” said Saunders. “They have some top, top players and I’m sure my lads will enjoy going up against them and trying to get the better of them on the night.
“A club like Havant provides a blueprint for us for what we are trying to do at Petersfield both on and off the pitch. They have a superb set up which we would love to emulate here one day.
“Hopefully this cup match will give us a chance to emulate what we have already done in the cups this season.”
