PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill hailed his side’s character after they scored a late equaliser to draw 2-2 at East Cowes Vics.
Matt Rowland struck in the 92nd minute to earn the Rams a share of the spoils on Saturday.
“We showed a lot of character to come from behind and score the late equaliser,” said Summerhill. “Our team spirit is phenomenal.
“We started well and scored in the second minute through Luca Williams.
“We conceded two soft goals, but we kept creating chances and kept believing.”
Summerhill was pleased with the way his players stood up to the physical test their opponents posed.
The Rams boss said: “East Cowes were strong, direct and very physical.
“They gave Matt some rough treatment, so it was fitting he got the equaliser.
“They were the most physical team we’ve played this season and we showed steel, which was pleasing.”
The point stretched Petersfield’s unbeaten run to four matches, and Summerhill is pleased with his side’s form.
He added: “With the draw at New Milton, two home wins and this point, it’s been a textbook month for us.
“It was a good point away from home, although it slightly felt like two points dropped as we were by far the better side.
“Bailey Newbury and Will Webb both got minutes off the bench, and it was another good day for the youngsters.”
