PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill was full of praise for his side after they picked up two victories in the past week.

The Rams won 3-1 at Premier Division Amesbury Town in the Wessex League Cup last Tuesday night, before winning 2-0 at home to New Milton Town in the league on Saturday.

“It’s been another great week,” said Summerhill.

“We had five first team players missing at Amesbury, so it’s another sign of how far we’ve come. We’ve got a good squad and we can cope with those changes.”

Summerhill was particularly pleased with the performance against New Milton, although he felt his side could have won by a bigger margin.

He said: “We started well on Saturday and scored two goals in the first half. How it wasn’t six or seven in the second half I don’t know.

“They only had one or two chances all game. It was a dominant performance.

“Will Webb played really well, and Ryan Kennedy gives us a physical edge.

“We’re a lot stronger physically this year, and a lot fitter.

“We’re full of confidence at the moment.”

The only major downside for the Rams against New Milton was when skipper Kris Stevens was sent to the sin bin in the second half.

“Kris has got a bit of an issue,” said Summerhill.

“As captain he is invited to speak to the referee, but he is drawn into it.

“It’s the second time it’s happened this season.”
