PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill wants his side to improve their game management heading into the new year.

The Rams lost their previous home game 4-3 against Hythe and Dibden in Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League.

Petersfield had equalised in the 86th minute to make it 3-3, but they conceded a goal on 89 minutes to slip to defeat.

Summerhill said: “We need to improve our game management. We got back to 3-3 against Hythe and we should then have seen the game out for a point.

“We showed a bit of inexperience, but we do have a young side who want to play football all the time.”

The Rams are clear of the drop zone at the moment, but Summerhill is aware his side need to turn their form around to avoid being sucked into a relegation battle.

He added: “We will have some important games against sides around us in the table in the new year where we will need to pick up points.

“The last thing we need is to be in a relegation battle at the end of the season.

“We’ve had a couple of tough seasons and we’re looking to rebuild.

“Sometimes we put a bit too much pressure on the games.”

Weather permitting, the Rams are set to host United Services Portsmouth at Love Lane on Saturday (3pm).

Petersfield will be looking for revenge after crashing to a 6-2 defeat in the reverse league fixture.
