Petersfield Town 1 Romsey Town 3: THE RAMS suffered a loss on the final day of the season despite a good performance against Romsey at a sunny Love Lane.

Petersfield’s Bailey Newbury had an early chance, but his strong volley was well saved by the Romsey keeper.

The visitors took the lead in the 33rd minute through Liam Magee’s goal. The ball went down the line and Oliver Jenkins cut it back into the area to Magee, and his shot squirmed underneath Rams keeper Nick Hall.

The away side almost doubled their lead just before half-time. Craig Bryant rose highest from a corner, forcing Hall to fly across his goal and make a good save in the top left-hand corner.

In the second half Petersfield’s Olly Kershaw sent a powerful cross along the face of the goal which was met by Newbury, but his fierce shot was well saved.

Romsey doubled their advantage when a long punt forward fell to Zac Mouland, who raced through and rounded Hall to score the away side’s second goal.

Petersfield pulled a goal back on 60 minutes when Newbury beat a defender, cut in and squared the ball to Gari Judd, who placed it in the bottom corner.

Petersfield conceded the final goal of the game in the 65th minute, when the visitors restored their two-goal advantage with an almost identical move to their previous goal.

In very hot conditions Mouland showed good stamina to go past Jake Bourton and fire the ball in the bottom right-hand corner.
