PETERSFIELD Town chairman Graeme Moir has hit back at the detractors of the club’s Love Lane home by saying – you keep moaning and we’ll keep picking up the three points.

His comments came after an Aylesbury fan took to Twitter following the Rams’ 3-2 win in Saturday’s match to criticise Petersfield’s facilities.

The fan, who goes under the Twitter name of Berty McBertface, blamed everything from a “rickety stand roof” and the “decrepit” stadium for his side’s defeat.

However, Moir points out that Love Lane is the club’s secret weapon, much as Fratton Park proved to be when Portsmouth were playing in the Premier League.

“The bottom line here is teams don’t like coming to Love Lane,” explained Moir.

“They come through the gate and see the slope on the pitch and decide they don’t fancy playing on that much.

“The comments we hear almost every match make us chuckle – many sides start making excuses within minutes of getting here. There’s not a bad word that hasn’t been used to describe the stadium.

“However, it doesn’t seem to affect the way we play too much.

“After Saturday’s matches we had the equal fifth best home record in the division so the bad comments are just sour grapes really.

“Love Lane works for us like Fratton Park used to for Pompey – teams don’t like coming here but we will just get on with the games and keep collecting three points.”
