KEEP on going – that’s the message from Petersfield Town chairman Graeme Moir, despite the club suffering a thrashing for the second weekend running.

The Rams were given a 7-0 hammering by play-off chasing AFC?Dunstable on Saturday at Love Lane.

This followed the 8-0 drubbing handed to Petersfield at Barton Rovers on the previous weekend.

While many will be quick to criticise the team for two poor performances, the Rams’ chief issued his rallying cry to try to lift spirits for the closing two weeks of the season.

“The results have been awful over the past two weekends but you have to admire the spirit and courage being displayed by the current first team squad,” said Moir. “To keep turning up alone when things are like this takes some guts.

“Most people would make excuses to try to get out of playing but the lads turning up and keeping going, week after week, deserve some praise from the club.

“It’s not easy keeping yourself going when you are losing week after week but these guys not only keep turning up but they are trying really hard to turn these bad results into good ones.

“They deserve something to go their way.” Petersfield close their league season with a trip to Hanwell Town this Saturday, a home game on Easter Saturday against Potters Bar Town, a trip to Fleet Town on Easter Monday and a home game against Arlesey Town on April 22.
