PETERSFIELD Town chairman Graeme Moir has called on clubs to pay greater attention to their pitchside barriers following a serious injury during Saturday’s game.

Rams debutant Matteo Corsaro needed hospital treatment for a nasty head wound after he was sent crashing into a concrete post during the first half at Chalfont.

Moir said: “It was an unnecessary challenge in the first place but Matteo was sent falling towards the perimeter fence as the ball went out of play.

“Part of the fence gave way and his head hit a concrete supporting post. Barriers like that should be able to take the force of players falling into them.”
