Petersfield Town 3 Alton 1: PETERSFIELD Town picked up their first league points of the season with a well deserved 3-1 win in their local derby with Alton last Tuesday night.

After initial pressure from Petersfield, the visitors came more into the game but the home side always looked the more dangerous and opened the scoring in the 38th minute through Luke Payne, following good work from Harry Tremlett.

In the 50th minute Payne was put clean through but, with just the keeper to beat, his shot found the side netting.

Five minutes later, former Petersfield player Max Smith went close for Alton but in the 61st minute the Rams doubled their lead when Gari Judd, who had replaced Payne barely a minute earlier, scored with his first touch.

Alton tried to respond and they reduced the deficit in the 75th minute when Henry Fox headed home from a corner.

The Rams made the game safe in the 88th minute when Tremlett fired an unstoppable shot past keeper Aaron Bufton.
