Petersfield Town 0 Aylesbury United 1: Aylesbury United eased themselves to victory against a Petersfield side who barely managed to fashion a chance on goal throughout the whole game on Saturday.

After the drama and excitement of the midweek win over Farnborough, this was a complete contrast.

It wasn’t a good spectacle in comparison and both sides struggled to get themselves any chances on goal throughout the 90 minutes.

The visitors looked the better side throughout though and with some better finishing they would have enjoyed a more handsome victory.

United’s first chance came on just nine minutes when Taylor Collins was put clear through the middle but Rams keeper George Hill, who was making his first team debut, did just enough to force him wide and he couldn’t put his shot into the empty net.

On 22 minutes, Jordan Warren had to hook Jordan Frederick’s deflected shot from the left off the line before the visitors took the lead five minutes before half time.

Lee Coulter was left completely unmarked at the far post for a corner and he guided a simple header into the net.

Petersfield had their first chance of the afternoon on 67 minutes after a defender completely missed the ball but Dan Simmonds’ low shot was easily gathered by keeper Zaki Oualah.

The visitors almost scored a carbon copy of the goal they did get on 72 minutes when Coulter had another free header from a corner but this time he headed the ball away from goal rather than hitting the target.

United nearly grabbed a second a minute before the end after good build up play down the right. Collins was put clear and he sent his shot past Hill but it smacked against the crossbar and the ball was hacked clear to safety.
