PETERSFIELD Town were held to a 1-1 draw by Fawley AFC at Love Lane on Friday night.

There weren’t many chances in the first half, but the Rams took the lead on 35 minutes. Kris Stevens started the move and Matt Low met the ball and slipped it past a stunned keeper from a narrow angle.

Fawley got themselves back on level terms in the 65th minute. Will Berry was in space and turned back on himself and the defender before opening up his body to curl an effort into the top corner.

Petersfield pushed for a winner, and Marvin Orepo almost helped his side get back in front when he went on a darting run which ended in the area. His low cross hit a defender, but the Fawley keeper blocked it before it went in.

The final major chance fell to the lively Will Essai.

Orepo went down the line and took some Fawley defenders with him, leaving Essai unmarked in the middle. Orepo’s cross was perfect, but Essai’s header was skewed off target.

Fawley pressed for a winner late on, but they couldn’t find the decisive strike and the honours finished even.
