Bashley 6 Petersfield Town 0: PETERSFIELD were hit for six for the second Saturday in a row when they slumped to their latest defeat in the New Forest.

The Rams produced another lacklustre performance and conceded goals too easily as their hosts romped to victory.

The visitors will point to the fact that it could have been so different had a perfectly good looking goal given them an early lead and if the home keeper had received his marching orders after giving away a penalty but these proved to be ifs, buts and maybes during what was ultimately another disappointing afternoon.

Jordan Neal looked to have fired Petersfield in front during the opening exchanges when it looked like he had scored a perfectly good goal when he beat Mike Edgar to the ball but the referee judged he had fouled the home keeper and ruled the goal out.

Three goals conceded by Petersfield in ten minutes effectively ended any chances they had of returning to East Hampshire with a positive result.

On 16 minutes a cross from the right bounced around the penalty area until Kabba Jack hooked the ball home. One of his team mates looked to be in an offside position distracting keeper Luke Eaton but the goal was allowed to stand.

Five minutes later the home side won a free kick 35 yards out and former Petersfield player Conor Whiteley fired his shot straight into the top corner of the net.

It was 3-0 on 26 minutes when Bashley spread the ball quickly from left to right and Lewis Ross pulled the ball back for Jack to convert the easiest of tap-ins from close range.

Brad Strickland went close with two efforts for the home side – first Max Elward managed to block his shot from the edge of the box and then the Bashley man fired high and wide of the target after cutting in from the left.

Petersfield won a penalty on 39 minutes when Billy Connor latched on to a through ball but was completely cleared out when he knocked the ball past the keeper. Edgar only received a yellow card for this and dusted himself down to then save Luke Kendall’s spot kick.

The visitors started the second half positively and managed to find their way into the home penalty area on a couple of occasions but they failed to fashion any chances of real note – Kendall hit a low shot just wide of the post.

Jack somehow completely missed the ball when it was crossed into the six yard box but he turned provider for the fourth goal on the hour mark.

He cut in from the left wing before pulling the ball back to Whiteley, who had the simplest of tap-ins from close range.

Jack completed his hat-trick on 67 minutes when he picked up the ball again on the left. This time he raced past the Rams’ defence before dispatching his low shot into the net.

The scoring for the afternoon was completed two minutes later when Petersfield failed to clear their lines and Harry McGrath was on hand to knock the ball home from close range.

Before that Eaton had made a sharp save to his left to keep the ball out of his net and following the home side’s sixth goal Kendall’s free kick from 30 yards out whistled just wide of the target.

The game then fizzled out as a contest, the home side content with their six goal haul from the afternoon.
