PETERSFIELD Town will be hoping the announcement of a new sponsor for their stadium will change their fortunes on home soil.
The Rams have endured a horrendous run of home form during 2017 which has seen them pick up points from only four league games.
The year started with renewed optimism over the club’s chances of Southern League survival when Petersfield drew 2-2 with Fleet Town on New Year’s Day.
However, the Rams had to wait until August for the next game where they picked up any league points at home.
The 4-1 victory over Amesbury Town on August 12 was Petersfield’s only home league win of the calendar year, with the only other points coming from draws against Lymington Town and Bournemouth during the current season.
The club made the announcement about their new stadium sponsor before losing their last home game of the year, 3-0 against Hamworthy United on Saturday.
The stadium will now be known as the SureFix Home Improvements Stadium and chairman Graeme Moir hopes the name change will also prompt a change in home fortunes. He said: “Our home ground has always been a major advantage down the years because of the slope on the pitch and a lot of clubs have to travel a long way when they play here.
“We are delighted to have entered into this new agreement with SureFix.”
