PETERSFIELD Town chairman Graeme Moir is calling on the club’s supporters and followers to get behind the players during a string of home games coming up.
The Rams’ match against Egham Town at Love Lane tonight (Tuesday) heralds the start of five home matches in their next six games.
After tonight’s Southern League Division 1 Central encounter, a home league game against Aylesbury follows on Saturday, before Petersfield host Moneyfields in the semi finals of the Portsmouth Senior Cup next Tuesday (March 21).
An away day in the league on March 25 at Barton Rovers comes before two more home league games – Hanwell Town on March 28 and AFC Dunstable on April 1.
With Petersfield enduring one of the worst seasons in their history, keeping everyone going at the club is a tough task but Moir believes the home support can play a huge part in bringing some positive results.
“It is tough going at the moment for everyone at the club – keeping yourself going and motivated is really tough with the results the way they are at present,” said Moir.
“However, the players were tremendous in their attitude and effort at Kempston last Saturday despite the 4-0 defeat. They kept going for the whole 90 minutes, even though they got little reward for their efforts.
“Our loyal band of away supporters continues to turn up wherever we play and to see those friendly faces on our travels really means a lot to everyone at the club on an away day.
“The same effect can now help to lift everyone when we are playing at Love Lane. No one likes or enjoys the way our season is going but if the fans can support and encourage the players on our home pitch it will help to lift them.
“It certainly will be the difference when it comes to getting a result from somewhere in the next few weeks. I’m certain we will get one and the backing of our home crowds can only help to push the players on towards that.”
Petersfield will be looking to break a run of nine straight defeats against an Egham side tonight who are currently in seventh place in the Division 1 Central table.
The Londoners will be confident of picking up three points against the struggling Rams to boost their chances of getting into the play-off places.
Petersfield have no new injury or suspension worries going into tonight’s game.
