PETERSFIELD Town are waiting to hear in which league and division they will be playing their football next season.
The Rams have comfortably confirmed they will retain their status at step four level after this campaign but there is uncertainty surrounding which division the club will find itself in for the 2016-17 season.
A?number of clubs at step four level received a letter from the Football Association at the turn of the year, warning them that they may be the subject of ‘lateral movement’ for next season.
FA?officials are due to meet in the coming weeks to agree on who will be playing where – their decision-making process has to take into account promotions and relegations across a large number of leagues as well.
One option for the Rams – the preferred option by the club – is for them to remain in Division 1 Central of the Southern League.
However, Petersfield could find themselves moving to the west to join Division 1 South and West or heading east into the Ryman League’s Division 1 South.
Rams chairman Graeme Moir said the club wants to stay where they are.
He explained: “We know the clubs and the ins and outs of this division now so to mount a promotion campaign next season would be easiest in this division.
“Being moved east or west will bring with it travel implications for the club – either of these moves will add considerably to our away trips.”
