PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill is expecting a tough test when his side host Sydenhams Wessex League Division One leaders United Services Portsmouth at Love Lane on Saturday.

The Rams boss was full of praise for his team’s next opponents, and admitted he would happily take a point from Saturday’s game.

“United Services are flying high,” said the Rams boss. “Harry Bedford is only on the bench for them, which shows how strong they are, and James Franklyn is banging in the goals for fun.

“They look like they could be the team who win the league. They were a good side last year and they are well coached. They have a fantastic set-up down there. Their pitch is good and they are a well-funded club with good players.

“Saturday will be a real test for us. They’re a good footballing side but they can be physical when they have to be.

“It looks like they have been building for this year and I’m expecting a really tough game. It will be a good measure of where we are.

“If we win, or get a point, it will be a great result.”

Summerhill has decided to give his side a well-earned break before Saturday’s game after a busy period of matches, and he hopes his side will come back refreshed.

“We decided not to train on Saturday and we won’t train at all before this Saturday,” said the Rams boss.

“I think the rest will do the lads the world of good. They deserve their rest over Christmas. We’ve had a lot of midweek and Saturday games, so hopefully the lads will come back feeling fresh.”

Summerhill is expecting to have a fully-fit squad to choose from for Saturday’s game.

He added: “Everyone is fit and available, which gives me a nice headache as I can’t get them all in a 16-man squad.”
