PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill has hailed his side’s character after their late winner against Andover Town on Saturday.

Jordan Geddes scored in the 90th minute to give the Rams’ ten men the three points.

Petersfield had also been reduced to ten men when they drew 1-1 at Downton last Tuesday night.

Summerhill said: “Both in midweek and on Saturday we reacted well to going down to ten men.

“Against Andover we could have been 3-0 up early on in the game. It was like the start of the season when we created a lot of chances but didn’t take them.

“We went 1-0 up early on, and we created some golden chances in the second half.

“Our keeper didn’t have a lot of to deal with, and he took the crosses well.

“We played a bit better when we went down to ten.

“Our subs Will Webb and Olly Kershaw gave us fresh legs and pace out wide and we got in down both sides.

“Even when we were down to ten men I felt we were going to win. We showed great spirit.

“We’ve got a small squad and the spirit is fantastic. We’ve got local lads playing who people want to watch.”

The Rams will be missing the suspended Geddes and Matt Rowland for their next match, but Summerhill believes it will mean there are chances for other players.

He said: “We’ve got our youth system and we’ve had three youngsters on the bench recently, so it’s a good opportunity for people.”
