PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill is looking for a positive response from his side when they travel to Folland Sports in Division One of the Sydenhams Wessex League on Saturday.

The Rams will be facing the division’s bottom side, and Summerhill is targeting three points from the match.

“We need to start winning games again, and we’re more than capable of that,” said the Petersfield manager.

“We’ll be going there looking for three points. We need a lift.

“I’m not expecting a great deal from Folland as they are a club in real trouble. They’re bottom for a reason, and we’ll be going there with a totally positive mindset and will be going all out for the win.

“Having said that there’s never an easy game in the Wessex League, and games against Folland always seem to have a derby edge. This is a very difficult league, but we will go there expecting to win.

“We will go there on the front foot with lots of pace and energy, and we’ll be looking to get bodies forward.”

Summerhill also reflected on a successful calendar year for the Rams. He steered the club to safety last season, and Petersfield are currently well placed in tenth position in Division One of the Wessex League with games in hand.

“It’s been a really positive year,” said the Rams boss.

“We’ve done well in the league, had a good run in the FA Vase and performed well at Totton and Eastleigh.

“The crowd on Saturday was nearly 180, which is phenomenal, and there is a real feel-good factor at the club.

“It was a shame to end the year with a defeat, but all in all it was a positive 2019.”
