PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill has issued a heart-felt apology following his side’s drubbing by Brockenhurst last night.
The Rams found themselves 4-0 down by the midway point of the first half of their Wessex Premier Division encounter with the New Forest side and trailing 5-0 at half time.
They pulled a goal back through Luke Kendall’s penalty in the second half but only after conceding a sixth goal in what was a poor Petersfield performance overall.
Summerhill described his side’s start to the game as “unacceptable” and apologised to supporters for the performance they had to endure on the night.
The Rams’ boss said: “As the first team manager I take full responsibility for last night’s dismal first half display.
“Those standards shown in the first 30 minutes are clearly totally unacceptable.
“We are a young, talented group who learn every game, however, we now have to start to capitalise on these lessons.
“We will be looking to bounce back on Saturday and show a true reaction of what we are capable of.
“I offer all fans who paid good money to watch us last night my heart-felt apology and I give you my commitment to keep fighting and drive improvement.
“Thanks for your continued support and see you all on Saturday.”
Petersfield travel to Hamble Club in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
The reserve team are in action tomorrow night (Thursday) at Sholing in the Wyvern League Division 1 East. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
