PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill is looking for three points when his side return to Sydenhams Wessex League Division One action against Downton.

The Rams will host the Wiltshire-based side at Love Lane on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

“We’re two wins away from second place and we’re right in contention,” said Summerhill.

“Harry Tremlett will be back on Saturday, which is really good news. He’ll have had a few extra days’ rest.

“We should be back to full strength on Saturday, and we’re looking to win.”

Downton have enjoyed an impressive start to the season and currently sit in third place in the Sydenhams Wessex League Division One table.

Summerhill feels his side have nothing to fear, although he says they’ll face a tough test against a good footballing side.

“Downton are going really well,” said Summerhill.

“We beat them at home last year and drew away, but it will be a really tough game.

“Downton are a good young side. They have links with Salisbury’s academy set-up and they move the ball around really well. It will be a different test for us as the Wessex League can be a very physical, direct league. Downton are a good technical, passing side.

“The fact the game is at Love Lane will hopefully give us an advantage. It’s a game we’re targeting.”

Petersfield currently sit in the top half of the Division One table in ninth place, and Summerhill is happy with his side’s start to the season.

“We’ve said we want to be in the top half by Christmas and in a position to put a run together in the second half of the season,” said the Petersfield manager.

“We’re on track with where we want to be, and to be within two wins of second means we’re ahead of schedule.”
