PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill wants his side to return to winning ways.

The Rams will host 15th-placed Totton and Eling at Love Lane on Saturday in Division One of the Sydenhams Wessex League (3pm).

Petersfield have slipped to two cup defeats, against Paulsgrove and Roman Glass St George, after previously enjoying an impressive 13-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

“Saturday is an important game and is one we’re looking to win,” said Summerhill.

“Totton are a young side and a good footballing team who like to play total football.

“Harry Tremlett might be back, so we’ll almost be at full strength. We’re looking for three points at home and to get some momentum going again.

“Two defeats is not the end of the world, but we don’t want it to become a blip. We’re in the top ten and we said at the start of the season we want to be in the top half by Christmas, so we’re well on track.”

The Rams were frustrated by the weather on Saturday, when their league match at Folland Sports was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

And although Summerhill was keen to play, he accepted the referee probably made the right decision.

“I wanted to play, but the referee called it and he was probably right,” said Summerhill.

“We were at full strength, and we wanted to go and take our chances.

“In hindsight the pitch would have been a leveller, and we’re now a better team than last year so we’ll be better off playing in good conditions.”

Saturday’s match against Totton and Eling is Petersfield’s designated Remembrance fixture.

Wreaths will be laid on the pitch before kick-off, and the club will remember Warrant Officer Darren Chant, a former player who was killed in Afghanistan in 2009.
