PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill was delighted with his side’s five-star performance after they comfortably swept aside Folland Sports 5-0 on Saturday.
The Rams led 2-0 at the break and added three further goals in the second half.
“We were very good and it was just what we needed,” said the Petersfield manager.
“After three draws and a defeat we were overdue a win.

“We played very well and were more offensive with Marvin Orepo and Matt Low up top. We played at a high tempo and were well on top. They caught us on the counter attack a couple of times, but Matt Petts made good saves.
“We scored goals at good times – the second just before half time and the third just after half time knocked the stuffing out of them and took the game away from them.”
The convincing nature of Saturday’s win meant Summerhill had the luxury of taking off key players to give them a much-needed rest.
He explained: “We were able to take Cam Smith and Marvin Orepo off and give Will Essai his first game for a few weeks, and Michael Wright also came on, which was great.
“I couldn’t ask for any more. It could have been 8-0 and it wouldn’t have been a surprise.
“We created good chances. Their keeper was man-of-the-match and he made some brilliant saves. We got the ball out wide on both sides and got Matt Low in behind. Marvin Orepo was a constant threat.
“To go out and convert our chances is brilliant for our confidence. Everyone is in really high spirits.
“We try to set simple plans for the players and it is really satisfying when they work. It helps the players believe in the plans. We had a simple, offensive plan on Saturday and it worked beautifully.
“To win convincingly was very pleasing. It was a really good start to the year.”
Will Webb (2), Matt Low (2) and Jordan Neal did the damage for the visitors, and Summerhill was pleased with his goalscorers’ efforts.
“Will Webb returned to form and the goals will have done him the world of good,” said the Rams boss.
“The two goals Matt Low got will also do his confidence the world of good. The second one was a fantastic finish in the bottom corner.
“Jordan Neal came off the bench and he’s an out-and-out goalscorer. We can go direct with him as he’s a big lad.”
