New Milton Town 0 Petersfield Town 0: PETERSFIELD Town maintained their eight-point gap over New Milton Town with a goalless draw in blustery conditions on Saturday.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first half, with the Rams looking dangerous on the attack and New Milton trying to build from the back.
Petersfield had an early chance to take the lead when Harry Tremlett rolled the ball across the area for Luca Williams, but his effort was straight at the goalkeeper.
The Rams also won a number of corners, one of which found Tremlett in the area, but his glancing header went wide.
New Milton winger Ben Cooper was lively throughout the first half, and he sliced an effort wide from the edge of the area.
Williams missed another good opportunity for the visitors when his effort was blocked and deflected over the bar for a corner.
Olly Kershaw was the next player to go close for the Rams, but his effort was pushed away by James Mayo.
Claudio Carvalho had the home side’s best opportunity of the first half after beating a couple of defenders on the right-hand side of the area and forcing a good block from Jacob Orr from a tight angle.
Petersfield should have broken the deadlock in the second half when Richard Way swung in a free kick, but substitute Will Webb’s shot was cleared.
Webb had another chance to win the game when he met Kershaw’s cross, but he put his header over the bar.
