Petersfield Town 3 Fawley 1: PETERSFIELD gained all three points against Fawley in difficult windy conditions at Love Lane on Saturday.

The Rams welcomed back Will Essai from injury and Matt Rowland from suspension.

Petersfield took the lead in the 18th minute when Gari Judd showed his quality. He picked the ball up outside the area and went through before stroking the ball past Fawley keeper Tom Rafferty and into the net.

Harry Tremlett had a free kick in a dangerous area tipped over the bar as the Rams continued to press.

Despite playing against the wind in the second half, Petersfield soon scored a second goal.

A backheel flick by Judd guided the ball over the defence and towards the sprinting Rowland.

Rowland ran into the area and shifted the ball to the right but was then poleaxed by Rafferty to win a penalty.

Essai converted the spot kick in the 61st minute, finding the left-hand corner of the goal.

The Rams extended their lead when Rowland picked up the ball on the right of the area and got a shot away.

Rafferty did not react quickly enough, flapping in goal as the ball found the top right-hand corner to give the Rams a commanding lead.

Fawley pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute.

The ball was lobbed high into a blustery penalty area and as Rams keeper Jacob Orr came out to claim it, he collided with Jake Bourton.

Fawley’s Mark Lillies fired the loose ball into the roof of the net to make it 3-1.
