Bemerton Heath Harlequins 1 Petersfield Town 2: PETERSFIELD Town gained their second league victory of the season with an impressive win at Bemerton Heath Harlequins on Saturday.
The hosts started sharply and captain Kane O’Keefe took advantage of the ball bouncing around in the area when he smashed a shot past the keeper to give Bemerton the lead.
The visitors then grew into the game, with their first chance falling to Matt Low. Latching on to a through ball, he cut inside and aimed for the far post. However, Dan Kempson kept him out with an impressive fingertip save around the post.
Petersfield had the ball in the net moments later, but it was disallowed for offside.
The Rams played good football in the second half, making life extremely difficult for their opponents.
Petersfield equalised in the 60th minute through Matt Low’s goal. Low took a touch, spotted the keeper off his line and placed the ball into the roof of the net from the edge of the area.
The Rams continued to press, but Bemerton were dangerous on the counter attack and Ben White almost scored when his acrobatic effort hit the post and was eventually cleared.
Rams keeper Matt Petts also made a key save when he blocked a Bemerton effort from a narrow angle.
Petersfield silenced the home crowd with a winner in the 87th minute.
Low beat a defender on the edge of the area and squared the ball to Harry Tremlett, who smashed it into the top corner.
