Laverstock and Ford 0 Petersfield Town 3: PETERSFIELD returned to league action on Saturday with a visit to mid-table Laverstock and Ford and their excellent start to 2019 continued with another good all-round display which saw them emerge as 3-0 winners.

The best chance early on fell to Laverstock in the fifth minute as they forced Rams keeper Nick Hall to make a fine save.

The visitors took the lead slightly against the run of play in the 15th minute when Jake Bourton played in Josh Sheehan, who tucked the ball away.

The remainder of the half saw both sides have their moments, with Laverstock going close from a 23rd-minute header. Ten minutes later there was a double chance for the Rams. Gari Judd’s shot was saved and the loose ball fell to Will Essai, but his effort was cleared by a defender.

The Rams made the perfect start to the second half when in the 49th minute Harry Tremlett fired home.

In the 57th minute Judd was put through and calmly finished to put the Rams firmly in the driving seat.

The hosts battled away but a resolute Rams defence worked hard to ensure they did not get back in the game, and on the counter attack they caused a few problems themselves.

Petersfield ultimately held on to their lead fairly comfortably for their second successive league victory, to take another big step in their bid to move into a comfortable mid-table position.
