Bournemouth 1 Petersfield Town 2: PETERSFIELD Town made history last Tuesday night by progressing to the Second Round of the FA Vase for the first time by beating a poor Bournemouth side.

The Rams started superbly, stamping their authority on the game from the off. A Harry Bedford free kick took a deflection and had to be tipped over by James Mayo.

The visitors took the lead on 17 minutes. Bedford made a stunning diagonal pass into the area, which was chested on to Matt Low. He took a touch and rolled it past Mayo.

The Rams continued to create chances, and a determined dribble from Will Webb led to another high save by Mayo.

Bedford tried his luck again from a free kick. He hit it sweetly but it hit the inside of the post and bounced out.

The Rams grabbed their second in the 65th minute after Sean Burton delivered an excellent deep cross from a free kick. Bournemouth struggled to deal with the quality delivery and Michael Wright reacted quickest and stabbed in the visitors’ second goal.

Bournemouth’s defence was then opened up again, giving Bedford ages to set himself and pick his spot from outside the area. His shot crashed against the post as the search for his elusive goal continued.

The hosts pulled one back with 14 minutes remaining. Jake Voisey beat Burton to a long ball on the byline, pulling it back to Jamie Trimble, and his sweet strike took a big deflection, taking it away from Matt Petts in the Rams’ goal.

Bournemouth couldn’t find an equaliser as the Rams’ resilient defence held out.
