PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill is looking forward to his side’s match against high-fliers AFC Stoneham at Love Lane on Saturday.

The Rams have had a rare blank weekend, and Summerhill hopes his side will be refreshed.

He said: “We made the decision just to rest at the weekend, but we’re training as usual this week and we’ll be working on how we can influence the game.

“We’ve had good performances against the top sides in spells, with the exception of Stoneham where we let ourselves down.

“We will need a complete performance on Saturday, but we’ve produced against higher-ranked opposition in the cups and now we need to do it in the league.”

Ahead of the Stoneham game Petersfield have been boosted by Ryan Kennedy’s return to training after a long-term injury.

“It’s really good to have Ryan back in training and there is a possibility he might be in the squad on Saturday,” said Summerhill.

“He is a good player and he’s a favourite with the fans. We also want to look at some of the youth players in our last two games.

“Nick Hall is also returning after after a break to play the last two games.”

Summerhill wants his side to finish the season well.

He said: “We’re in 13th place with 39 points and we’d like to get in the top ten. If we could get four points from our last two games that would be a fantastic finish to the season for us.”
