Petersfield Town 0 Marlow 2: PETERSFIELD Town can certainly take plenty of positives from this home league match on Bank Holiday Monday.

However, the overall outcome exposed the fact that there is still plenty of work to be done before this side will be picking up points on a regular basis. In the first half the Rams were excellent – defensively they were solid and they completely snuffed out opponents who had made a strong start to the season.

Ben Neal ran on to Dan Simmonds’ flick on but his dipping shot dropped on to the roof of the net.

The Rams’ best chance arrived on 26 minutes when a corner was half cleared and it was played forward again to Neal but Marlow keeper Omari Edward-Holmes blocked his shot and Simmonds’ attempt to put away the rebound with an overhead kick went well wide.

Petersfield keeper Tom Boyle had to make an early save in the second half when the visitors worked themselves some space on the edge of the penalty area and Marcus Mealing’s rising effort had to be tipped over the crossbar. However, Marlow took the lead on 58 minutes when a corner from the left found Lewis Gabbidon completely unmarked in front of goal and he planted his header home into the net.

There were few chances during the second half with the ball being pumped long into each penalty area but the visitors doubled their lead on 73 minutes.

This time a free kick from the left found Analet Odihambo unmarked at the far post and he guided his free header into the net.
