Petersfield Town 2 Ware 3: PETERSFIELD Town’s poor run of league form continued when they fell to defeat against Ware last Wednesday night.

The Rams showed plenty of spirit though to battle back from going 2-0 down after half an hour to get back on level terms and they could count themselves unfortunate not to have gone on to win the game.

The visitors stormed into a 2-0 lead though with their first two attacks of the game. The first goal came on 15 minutes when Jamie Ford slipped as he tried to clear a ball played into the box.

The first attempt on goal was well blocked by keeper Anthony Ender but the rebound dropped at the feet of Kieran Bishop and his shot was partially charged down but it had enough momentum on it to find its way over the line.

Ryan Woodford had a shot tipped over by Ware keeper Jack Smith before the visitors made it 2-0 after 30 minutes. Petersfield got caught in possession on the edge of their own box and Bishop got control of the ball and tucked his shot under Ender and into the net.

Shortly after this Bishop almost completed his hat-trick when he got clear of the home defence inside the penalty area but he lashed his shot against the base of the post.

However, the Rams pulled a goal back on 42 minutes. Good build up play in midfield saw the ball worked to the left into the path of Alex Lowley. His low cross was deflected past a defender and the keeper and Joe Briggs ran on to it to blast it into the net from close range.

Petersfield could have drawn level before half time when Lowley controlled a bad clearance and spread the ball to the right where Briggs took it to the edge of the area before unleashing a shot which hit the crossbar.

The Rams drew level five minutes after the interval when a cross from the left found Briggs at the far post and he headed the ball back across goal and into the net.

At this stage it was Petersfield who looked to have control of the game and who would go on to win it but the visitors rallied again and slowly came back into the game.

The visitors then had a good chance seven minutes later when Khale Dacosta received the ball from a throw in 25 yards out and his shot was heading towards the top corner until Ender threw himself to his right to keep the ball out.

Ware went close again when they got in behind the Petersfield defence and Ender spilt a cross he tried to gather. The loose ball was kicked away to the edge of the box but straight to Dacosta who scooped his shot well over the top with the goal at his mercy.

Dacosta finally got on the scoresheet with what proved to be the winner on 75 minutes. He took the ball down the right and was allowed to cut inside to the edge of the penalty area. From here he fired off a low shot which beat Ender and went inside his near post.
