IT’S TIME to rebuild for the future – that was the message from Petersfield Town chairman Graeme Moir now the club cannot climb out of the bottom two in the league.
Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Aylesbury mathematically confirmed the Rams will finish in the relegation places in Division 1 Central.
Only a reprieve from the Football Association can save their step four status now.
But the club won’t be sitting back and waiting for that decision, as Moir believes it is important that the Rams start planning for the future.
He said:?“Saturday’s result confirmed what many people thought for months would happen to us.
“It has been a tough season for everyone to take but this happens to every club at some stage in their history.
“What is vitally important now is that we take time to reflect and learn from the mistakes that have been made and plan how we look to take this club forward.
“We have had a taste of step four football and we have all enjoyed it. We might get a stay of execution but if we don’t we know what this level is about and what we need to do in future to get back here and sustain ourselves more successfully.
“This season is still important – we need to try and get as many points as we can as that could still come into play when the season ends.
“But behind the scenes we will be taking stock of the situation. Progress is already being made and we must move on and forwards from the current situation.”
