PETERSFIELD Town are in danger of becoming the worst step four club in the country after two more defeats this week.
The Rams currently have the lowest points total of all clubs at step four of the non league pyramid system – and they are the only side still looking to get into double figures this season.
Saturday’s dismal defeat at home to Bedford Town and Monday’s heartbreaking setback at Beaconsfield SYCOB – where they led at one stage and then drew level before losing the game – means the Rams are stuck on just nine points in total for the season.
They are still within striking distance of a number of other struggling step four clubs – most notably Southern League Division 1 South and West bottom side Bridgwater Town, who only have 10 points, and the side above them in the table – Wantage Town who have 13 points.
Godalming Town have just 15 points in Ryman League Division 1 South.
Petersfield chairman Graeme Moir said: “It’s a tag we certainly don’t want to be stuck with come the end of the season.
“But it can only be turned around on the pitch and it is down to the players to ensure we don’t finish as the worst side in the country at this level of non league football.
“There is a remote chance we could win a reprieve from relegation at the end of the season – but there are no guarantees on this.
“What we will need to do to help this happen is amass as many points as possible.”
