PETERSFIELD Town have won the Club of the Month award for Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League.
The Rams won the award for September after winning five matches and drawing one game during the month.
Petersfield manager Mark Summerhill was delighted to win the award, and says it is for everyone at the club.
He said: “The Club of the Month award is for everyone. It is a whole club award.
“There is a lot of hard work put in at this club and I’m grateful to everyone.
“We’ve reached the Second Round proper of the FA Vase for the first time, and if we win our games in hand we go joint top in the league. Last year we had 18 points at Christmas, and this year we already have 19 points in October.”
Petersfield will host Western League Premier Division outfit Roman Glass St George in the Second Round proper of the FA Vase. The tie is scheduled to be played on Saturday, November 2.
The Rams have already beaten AFC Stoneham, Sherborne Town and Bournemouth in the FA Vase, and Summerhill feels his side can continue their journey in the competition.
He said: “There is a chance to get to the Third Round proper. We’re at home and we should get a decent crowd.
“The lads are really enjoying it here at the moment.
“I’d like to reach a cup final this year, and I’m not fussed which cup we do it in.”
Before the next round of the FA Vase, Petersfield will face a tough test on Saturday when they travel to fourth-placed Hythe and Dibden in Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League (3pm).
“Hythe and Dibden will be a big test,” said Summerhill.
“They’re a great footballing side with good facilities and a big budget. I’d happily take a point from there.”
