Petersfield Town 4 Leighton Town 3: PETERSFIELD Town and Leighton Town served up a seven goal Christmas classic with the Rams snatching the three points deep into injury time.

Leighton took the lead on 12 minutes thanks to a sweeping move from their own half which eventually saw Alex O’Brien fire the ball past keeper Anthony Ender and into the top corner.

The visitors doubled their lead on 27 minutes when James Hatch’s shot was blocked by Ender’s legs but the striker reacted quickly to head the rebound home.

Petersfield pulled a goal back six minutes later after good work by David Jerrard on the left and Howard Neighbour cut inside his marker in the box before curling his shot past Sam Weir.

Leighton restored their two goal advantage a minute into the second half when Curtis Shaw lost his marker and chipped the ball home from the right hand edge of the penalty area.

The Rams made it 3-2 on 59 minutes when a cross into the six yard box was half blocked by a defender but Joe Richardson was on hand to bundle the loose ball home from close range.

Petersfield equalised on 73 minutes when Andy Todd pulled his cross back from the byline and Jerrard tucked his shot inside the near post.

This set up a grandstand finish and the Rams grabbed the three points after three minutes of injury time when Richardson was pulled down by Weir inside the box.

The keeper was shown a red card before Neighbour smashed home his penalty to spark wild celebrations among the home support.
