PETERSFIELD Town will be without the services of striker Billy Connor going into the 2018-19 season.

The young forward has decided to sign for Wessex Premier Division side Sholing – a club who will be one of the favourites for the Premier Division title during the next campaign.

The news was revealed by the Southampton club’s official Twitter account last week.

It said: “We welcome Billy Connor to Sholing FC – it’s good to have another quality player on board.”

Connor burst on to the Rams’ scene during their 2016-17 campaign in the Southern League Division 1 Central.

Despite Petersfield struggling all season and finishing bottom of the table, the 18-year-old scored nine goals in 21 appearances.

Last summer he decided to join Moneyfields after the Portsmouth-based club won promotion but after short spells with Gosport Borough and Horndean, Connor decided to return to the Rams in November last season.

He struggled to hit goal scoring form during what proved to be another season of struggle for Petersfield, this time in the Wessex Premier Division, but Connor provided the Rams with an attacking threat around the penalty area and his pace won plenty of penalties for the team.

Last season Connor made 25 appearances and scored three goals, taking his overall appearances for the club to 46 and a total of 12 goals.
