THERE was some cheer at last for Petersfield Town on Wednesday night following what has been a dismal season for the club.

The Rams’ reserve team, managed by Shane Brayson, secured the Wyvern League Division 1 East title thanks to a 5-1 win over their nearest rivals, Baffins Milton Rovers.

In the first half Petersfield fired themselves into a 2-0 lead before they were reduced to ten men shortly before half time.

However, the visitors were unable to make their numerical advantage count in the second half and Baffins were unable to prevent the home side from stretching their lead before they too were reduced to ten men late in the game.

Petersfield’s second string will be looking to complete a league and cup double when they take on AFC Stoneham in the final of the Wyvern Challenge Cup on May 5 at Hythe and Dibden FC.
