PETERSFIELD Town Juniors under-ten Comets took part in the annual Winchester pre-season six-a-side tournament last weekend.
The team got their season off to a flying start with a dramatic 1-0 victory in a tense final against a strong Portsmouth team.
The tournament was played in bright sunshine with teams from across the region represented.
The squad from Petersfield impressed with good performances in the league stage of the competition from Grace Jarrett, Zahra Williams, Harriet Bond, Evie Reah, Daisy Houghton and Erin Sherwood.
A fine performance from Tess Langford in the semi finals and some impressive saves from Alice Wiseman in the penalty shootout provided Elsa Foster with the opportunity to score the winning goal in the final against Portsmouth.
The team have worked hard for two years training every Monday night from 6pm to 7pm in all weathers, and they have now won their first trophy.
Petersfield Town Juniors under-ten Comets manager Seb Foster said: “This is a great start to this season.
“We hope that more girls will be inspired to join this great squad and get the chance to play for Petersfield Town Juniors.”
