PETERSFIELD Triathlon Club (PTC) hosted its sixth sprint triathlon event at Churcher’s College on Sunday.
Around 300 athletes entered the event and completed a course of a 400m swim, a 20km cycle and a 5km run, all in the surroundings of Petersfield.
The winning male was Andrew Syrett with a time of 58min and 32secs, and the first woman home was Emily Iredale in a time of 1hr, 10min and 4secs.
PTC’s David Reid was the second male overall, and PTC’s Peter Younghusband was the third male.
Gayle Vickers was the second female overall, and Bekki Ewing-Seal was the third female across the line.
Thomas Barnard was the first male under 40, Nick Casburn was second and Peter Knight was third.
Nicky Odea was the first female under 40, Zara Thatcher was second and Louise Francis was third.
Damian Crawford was the first male aged between 40 and 50, Adam McCulloch was second and Damon Howard was third.
Tanya Brady was the first female aged between 40 and 50, Mary Campbell was second and Johanna Lovell was third.
Mike Cooper was the first male over 50, and Graham Parret was second.
Viv Geary was the first female over 50 finisher, and Amanda Wellesley was second.
PTC’s Nick Thorpe was the first male over 60, and Gayleen Scott was the first female over 60.
Oliver Shergold was the first male youth finisher, and PTC’s Summer Black was the first female youth finisher. Manage a Tri won the team relay.
The event was well run with support from PTC members and their friends and families, who marshalled and cleared up after the event. Race director Simon Russell, PTC chairwoman Kim King and Dave and Linda Robbins also helped organise the event.
Once again the club raised money for FitzRoy, a Petersfield-based charity working with people with learning disabilities, and more than £5,000 has been raised.
The date for next year’s sprint triathlon event is Sunday, September 23, 2018.
