PETERSFIELD Town are developing plans for the future to ensure they have a stadium fit for high level non-league football and facilities for the community to use.
The ambitious Southern League club are reviewing the state of the ageing facilities at their Love Lane home.
Club officials will then draw up a list of requirements needed to bring their ground up to date and meet future FA?ground grading criteria and these will be used to put together a development plan for Love Lane to cover the next ten to 15 years.
The facilities review will take all aspects of the stadium into consideration. The project is set to include looking at removing the infamous slope on the pitch and viability of a 3G/4G surface; prolonging the life of the current clubhouse and looking at replacement facilities; and the current stands around the stadium and where new viewing areas should be developed in future.
Chairman Graeme Moir said: “We have ageing facilities around Love Lane – they have served us well but we need to start looking to the future and having a plan in place ready to implement.
“The FA’s ground grading requirements will largely guide our work. For example National League South standard grounds need capacities of 4,000 people, so we need to look at how we can achieve this at Love Lane.
“We also need to ensure our new facilities are in keeping with our surroundings and can also be used more often by the community.
“At the moment we are talking to groups who will help us achieve our aims and these talks are going well and progressing forwards.”
