LIFE may be a struggle for Petersfield Town’s first team in the Southern League at the moment but things are going much better for their second string at present.
The Rams’ reserves are having a strong season in the Wyvern League and January could well determine if there will be some silverware heading to Love Lane later on in the season.
Manager Shane Brayson, assisted by Tim Farmer, has a good crop of young players developing under his guidance – with many of them already getting their chance to show what they can do at Southern League level and in first team cup competitions.
The likes of keeper George Hill, midfielder Adam Cripps and defender Chris Harvey have all become regulars in the first team squad thanks to the upheaval of various managerial changes for the first team and the regular comings and goings of senior players in the set up.
Last season the likes of Jordan Geddes, Mike Needham and Ben Neal all got a taste of first team action after playing regularly in the reserves at Love Lane.
It’s a big month coming up for Brayson’s men, starting with a Wyvern League Division East game against Sholing at Love Lane this Saturday. The Rams currently sit in fifth place in the table, seven points behind leaders Sholing but with six games in hand.
They are looking to move out of the group stages of the John Stimpson Memorial Shield when they play Moneyfields on January 11.
They also have a home tie against Winchester City in the Wyvern Challenge Cup on January 25.
