NEW LISS Athletic manager Paul Marsh is targeting promotion in his first season at the club.

Marsh is looking to improve on last season’s impressive fourth-place finish in the Hampshire Premier Football League Senior Division.

And Marsh is relishing the challenge that lies ahead.

“I’m very excited to be here,” said Marsh.

“I was attracted to the club because it is very ambitious, and my vision lined up with the vision Peter Storrie and Gary Lines have.

“Rich Bessey was very successful last year but we want to go one step further and target promotion.

“I’ve been given full control of the football side of things. I’ve had to bring in an entire new squad and pre-season has been about getting the players fitter.

“I’m very happy with the squad I’ve got, but I am looking at one or two positions.”

Marsh would also like his side to go on a cup run, although he admits that is not his top priority this season.

“The league is the target and we will take each game as it comes,” said Marsh.

“If we are in a nice league position in October and November we might concentrate on a cup run.

“It would be fantastic to win a cup this season, but it is not the top priority.”

The club is also looking for help behind the scenes ahead of the new season.

Marsh added: “A secretary is the top priority, but we are also looking for someone to help run the bar and help put out the corner flags.

“Anyone who can help will be made to feel welcome.”
