WE JUST want to get playing again – that was the plea from Petersfield Town boss Ian Saunders after another week of fixtures was washed out by the weather.

Last Wednesday’s game against Potters Bar Town was postponed due to a waterlogged Love Lane pitch.

Saturday’s trip to Aylesbury went the same way and left the football management scrambling around to find 3G facilities so the players could at least do some training.

The lack of action is also creating a congested fixture schedule with Petersfield now playing every Saturday and midweek until the beginning of March due to the number of games which have had to be rearranged.

“There’s not a lot we can do other than hope the rain we keep getting eases off for a week or two,” said Saunders. “It’s really frustrating not to be playing at the moment but all we can do is try and get some training sessions on to keep the lads ticking over.

“We just need to make sure we are ready to go again as soon as we start playing matches.”

The Rams are due to face Division 1 Central leaders Chalfont St Peter at Love Lane on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) before Godalming Town visit next Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm).

The following weekend (January 23) brings a trip to Royston Town.
