PETERSFIELD Town chairman Graeme Moir reflected on the club’s record FA Cup run and vowed – we will have more days like these.
National League South side St Albans City won the Third Qualifying Round tie 1-0 at Love Lane on Saturday in front of a bumper crowd of 370.
Petersfield got tantalisingly close to making it through to the next round and the draw would have handed them another home tie against Weston Super Mare, who are struggling at the bottom of the National League South table.
The Rams would have fancied their chances in that game of getting into the First Round Proper and a potential tie against opponents from the Football League.
However, Moir stressed that the club needed to take the positives from their record FA Cup run.
“Our extended run in the cup has been good for the club in so many ways,” said Moir. “It has brought us plenty of good publicity and brought new supporters through the turnstiles.
“Our challenge now is to keep the forward momentum of the last few seasons going and build on this.
“Saturday was another measure of how far we have come in a short space of time, both on and off the field.
“The attendance figure showed there is a real appetite in Petersfield to watch football at this level and standard in the town.
“Our challenge as a club now is to keep moving forward to a stage when we get crowds like that every week.”
