PETERSFIELD Town manager Ian Saunders has explained to supporters why a number of players have been released by the club.
A mixture of fringe players and first team regulars have been shown the Love Lane exit door as the Rams’ boss shakes up his first team squad.
Former club captain Ryan Woodford, Alek Przespolewski and Dominic Cope have all now left the club despite being regulars in the first team squad in the first three months of the Southern League campaign.
Also on their way are Mike McEnery and Harry Wedlake, while Benny Read and Will Essai are likely to join Wessex League clubs soon to get more match time.
Keeper Matt Shortt (Moneyfields) and striker Michael Dixon (Andover Town) are still out on loan as well.
Saunders had to clear out some players to bring in the new faces he felt were needed to freshen up his first team options.
Oliver Bailey, Adam Brice and David Jerrard have all impressed since coming into the club, and Jason Silver and Stuart Green have returned from injury.
Saunders said: “Unfortunately a few players have moved on from the club and we would like to wish them all the very best for their future careers.
“There have been a number of changes. Not everyone will agree with them, but I hope our supporters continue to keep the faith and trust my latest decision-making process. I truly believe the future is bright here.”
