HORNDEAN picked up a second successive win as they beat Cowes Sports at Five Heads Park on Saturday in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.

Bobby Scott gave the Deans the lead in the sixth minute, but Mike McEnery’s equaliser got Cowes back on level terms.

The home side regained the lead on 27 minutes through Mark Smith’s goal.

Jimmy Wykes’ equaliser in the second half made it 2-2, but Scott scored his 21st goal of the season in the 62nd minute to make it 3-2 and give the Deans the three points.

The visitors had a late chance to rescue a point when Horndean keeper Lloyd Thomas gave away a penalty, but he redeemed himself by saving the spot-kick.

The win moved Horndean up to fifth place.
